It is my pleasure to invite you to the North Carolina A&T Alumni Western Region Alumni Conference in Houston, Texas. Please arrange your schedule to receive the traditional "Western Aggie Hospitality" on Friday March 26 through Sunday March 28, 2004. The meeting will take place in Houston at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on 6701 Main Street. Hotel arrangements have also been made at that hotel for only $59.00 per night so plan your weekend get away with the Aggies. There are over 200 Aggies in the Houston area and many other Alumni will be traveling from the Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Tulsa and Oklahoma City areas. The Aggies in the Houston area are preparing a full weekend of activity to energize and excite the Alumni about what is happening with our Alma Mater.
The theme of the conference is "A&T in 2004, its all about Change. At this meeting, Aggies from throughout the country will convene to discuss how we can focus on helping the Alma Mater as it goes to the next level. The information shared at this meeting will allow the attendees to become better informed ambassadors for the University. We will also share strategies and tactics to create better alumni involvement in the communities in which we live.
To kick off the conference, a welcome reception is planned on Friday night. On Saturday we will start promptly at 9:00 am to be as productive as possible during the day. We promise to be finished by 2:00 PM to allow preparation for the events of that evening. On Sunday there will be a group worship service and golf outing. Please arrange your schedule now to stay the weekend as the Houston community also has activities planned.
Conference activities include updates on the Campus and University, the restructuring of the National Alumni Association, and the Annual Fund campaign. There will also be sessions on How Alumni can help as A&T moves to the next level. Invited speakers include A&T Chancellor James Renick, National Alumni President Teresa Davis, Director of Alumni Affairs Hariet Davis and 2nd Vice President William Moses.
We are a diverse group of older, younger, and middle age folk of varying occupations and interests that are trying to make a difference. The common bond is that we all spent some time in North Carolina being educated and we are all now here in the A&T's Western Region. The meeting promises to be Exciting. We need you to make it happen.
